All plastic padding was removed from previous repairs on the wing to uncover the extent of the damage, which had all ready been beaten out roughly. Using a 'cheap' set of hammers I neatened up the panels to a more mini wing sort of shape, and then proceeded to apply thin layers of filler to bring the panel back to it's true form. This probably took a fortnight of sanding, shaping and then filling again, finally spraying on filler primer as the top coat.
With the damage repaired and primed, the shell was completely gutted, inside and out. This, however, poses a problem in a small garage, where do you put what was on the inside ? Yes, it all ended on the roof !
Now empty on the inside, the first application of final colour could be applied. Any rust patches were cleaned and zinc primed, and then a couple of coats of filler primer over the original paint, rubbed down to provide a key for the final top coats of cellulose.
