
To start with, I cut off the off-side wing, just to get into the swing of it. This started to show the real extent of the rot.
Yes, that is daylight you can see through the bulkhead. The rot was so bad, without much effort you could put your fist through it. The near side was no different, so the decision to remove the front of the car was taken.
About an hour and two or three cutting discs later...
The engine and ancillaries were all in good condition, just needed somewhere to live.
Having a bit of spare 2x3 and 4x1 kicking aroung the garage soon saw the manufacture of a trolley affair to which the subframe could be connected. The engine was then dropped, with subframe and running gear straight onto the contraption.
The whole thing held on by two coach bolts through the trolley and the two front mounting holes in the subframe.
