To help an online forum I wrote a number of technical articles on the mechanics of the mini and specifically on the gearbox. These not only proved popular but also started a steady stream of enquiries about reconditioned units, with the eventual outcome being the launch of "GUESSWORKS RECONDITIONED MINI GEARBOXES" in April 2005.
The aim of Guessworks is to provide a quality product which is built by an enthusiast specifically to the requirements of the engine, the use of the vehicle and the utimately the consumer. This includes helpful advice on options available, sourcing quality products to extend longevity of service and pricing to a budget.
Guessworks is based in Rugby, and being an active member of both the local mini owners club and an online forum, you'll find me at the majority of the shows during the season. Not as a trader but as an enthusiast grubbing my way through the autojumble and burger vans, but always available to talk shop, or just about mini's in general.
Please browse through the site, take time to read some of the testimonals, play with some of the interactive pages and most importantly imagine what it would be like to have a gearbox which didn't crunch every time you dropped into 2nd.
